Getting There

At first glance it may seem like a difficult task to get to this Island off the coast of Massachusetts, but it’s not! There are many ways to get to the island. Nantucket is home to the famous airport ACK with direct flights from Boston and NYC almost year round and a few times a day in the summer. ACK gear like a sweater or hat will become your must have souvenir from your weekend trip. The second way to arrive on the island is by ferry. You can start in New Bedford, MA, Hilignads, NJ or NYC 34th street and all have direct ferries to nantucket. The New Bedford is the car ferry that allows you to bring your car from the mainland onto the island. 

Day One: Arrival and Exploration

Arriving in Nantucket is like stepping into a postcard. Start your morning with a leisurely stroll through downtown, where quaint boutiques and art galleries line the streets. Grab a coffee from a local café and savor it as you explore the historic district, featuring well-preserved homes dating back to the whaling era. Spend time exploring the local shops and don't miss the book store!

For lunch, indulge in fresh seafood at Nantucket Tavern & Gazebo. This casual lunch spot right in the middle of downtown is a local staple. Don't miss the mudslides here! 

In the afternoon, head to one of Nantucket’s stunning beaches. Surfside Beach and Madaket Beach are popular choices, offering expansive stretches of sand and mesmerizing ocean views. Spend your afternoon swimming, sunbathing, or simply relaxing with a good book.

As evening descends, head to Lola 41 for dinner. The restaurant has a fusion of Japanese cuisine and local seafood. After your sushi and seafood feast walk over to one of the ice cream shops for everyone’s favorite dessert.  

Day Two: Outdoor Adventures and Cultural Delights

Rise early and embrace Nantucket’s natural beauty with a morning hike or bike ride. The island offers scenic trails that wind through moors, forests, and along the coastline. Bike rentals are readily available, making it easy to explore at your own pace.

Spend a few hours delving into Nantucket’s rich history and culture. Visit the Whaling Museum to learn about the island’s maritime heritage and explore exhibits showcasing artifacts from Nantucket’s whaling era. Drive around the island to make sure you also experience the Siasconset side of the island. 

In the afternoon Cisco Brewery is not to be missed! With local food trucks, live music and Cisco’s brews get ready for an afternoon of fun!  

As your weekend draws to a close, treat yourself to a leisurely dinner at Galley Beach savoring the flavors of Nantucket’s culinary offerings.
